Creepy Subway Ride
Yuck! I can't shake this feeling! A guy on the subway totally creeped me out (I have to take it to and from school everyday, but usually Diego is with me). Today, Diego wasn't there, and I got a bad feeling as I was heading down into the subway. This guy was staring at me and then he followed me. So I immediately went back up the stairs to the street. I called my brother and told him I was freaked out and was going to walk to the next subway station. He told me it was okay and asked if I wanted him to call a taxi for me, or, he said I could wait in a safe place until he could get there. Just talking to Diego made me feel so much better. I don't know if the creepy guy was bad or not, but hey--I'd rather be safe than sorry. If my instincts tell me something's wrong, I'm not taking a chance.

I live in the city, too, and our school had this class on how girls can keep themselves safe in all kinds of situations. I'll email you the name of the teacher if I can find it, but I remember some of the things she said:
- Don't go out alone (especially when it's dark!)
- Use the buddy system.
- Take a friend or family member, even your dog.
- Be sure to stay in well-lit areas, like under streetlights or around busier stores.
- Trust your gut . . . if you feel "creeped out" or if a situation is making you uncomfortable, don't stay where you are.
- Don't allow yourself to get backed in a corner or any other place where you can't get to the exit.
- Don't assume that because you know someone they won't hurt you. Violence can also be a part of dating relationships!
Hope this helps--I know how scary it is when someone creeps you out. My VBF got her purse stolen one time and she couldn't go out by herself for a long time after that.
