Machu Picchu, a mysterious sanctuary guarded by lush and breathtaking Andean peaks, tops the must-see list for many of the world’s intrepid travelers. This adventure not only brings you on a multi-day trek through jagged peaks, but to a variety of rich cultural and historical sites in Cusco and the mystical Sacred Valley. Engage in service, immerse yourself in the lively culture of the Peruvian Highlands and reflect on your own life amidst a backdrop of some Earth’s most extraordinary scenery.

Experience the rich cultural and natural diversity of the Andes. You and fourteen Girl Scouts will engage in thoughtful conversations, self-discovery activities and hands-on, community service projects. Not to mention, you’ll hike one of the most famous trails in the world.
Experience the magical city of Cusco and the cultural riches of the Sacred Valley of the Inca. Learn about the history of the Inca, listen to traditional music, shop for handicrafts and visit astounding archaeological ruins. After acclimating to the altitude, you'll embark on a four-day hike through the highlands. Pass incredible vistas and ancient Inca ruins arriving at the spectacular ancient citadel of Machu Picchu. Learn about the history and traditions associated with this UNESCO World Heritage Site – one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
Spend a day with a local community working on a service project located in the buffer zone of the Machu Picchu Historical Sanctuary. Work side-by-side with local community members on a community-wide project which they have identified as important to their livelihood.
You will learn, laugh, lead and live life fully… returning home ready to act. To complete your experience, we’ll you'll design a follow-up leadership project that takes your trip to a whole new level!

Be It
- Must be in good physical condition. You will hike for 6-8 hours a day at times reaching elevations above 13,000 feet
- Committed to community service and an academic experience
- Possess good teamwork skills
- Open-minded and ready to experience another culture and ecosystem
- Able to participate in 5 one-hour planning sessions conference calls leading up to the trip after acceptance into the program

- A packing list will be provided upon acceptance
- You will need a current passport
$ It A $200 deposit is due immediately upon acceptance to this event (part of the event fee, not in addition to it)
- You are responsible for round-trip airfare to Lima, Peru as well as any extra spending money you wish to bring
- You are responsible for any immunizations you choose to receive
